Sony provided an update today on a title that went missing following its announcement at 2007's Tokyo Game Show: Dress. Sony shared final product specs and release information for the title today.

Sony describes Dress as an online "fashion entertainment magazine" that will be offered in the form of "issues," similar to a real magazine. Each issue will be split into two parts: Real Brands and Real Create.

In the Real Brands section of each issue, users head to a "Pavilion" area for the brand of their choice where they can collect apparel while playing min-games. This apparel can be used to dress up fashion models who can be placed in a digital fashion show.

The Real Brands section will also include video content for the respective brands under a "Dress Ch." area. Here, users will find videos details the story behind the brand along with interviews with designers.

The Real Create section of each issue is all about user creation. Users can access a "Design Mode" for creating their very own apparel using a set of graphical tools. This area of the product will offer paid content in the form of premium visual elements that are purchased from the "dress Graphic Store" for use in clothing designs.

Real versions of the designs can be ordered online. Users will be able to select between kids and adult sizes.

The first volume of Dress will feature products from Puma by Miharayasuhiro and Beams T. These two makers will be holding real world events in January and February offering players a chance to try out special versions of Dress while purchasing real fashion products.

Also collaborating with Sony for this volume is Cassina IXC, which took part in the creation of furniture for the studio that appears in the agme.

Set for distribution some time in January, the first volume of Dress will be priced at 2,000 yen.

Dress was originally announced as a module for Home. This does not seem to be the case anymore. An update at the official Dress site states that Sony is looking into future Home compatibility.
