Following up on an earlier announcement from Square Enix about Crystal Defenders for Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft chimed in later in the evening with an announcement of its own, introducing both Crystal Defenders and a second title, and hinting at more XLA games to come from the RPG giant.
Regarding Crystal Defenders, Microsoft shared a second screenshot of the game, joining the initial screenshot shared by Square Enix earlier today.
Judging by the screenshots, the 360 version uses the following control scheme during main gameplay sequences:
- RB: Speed up battle
- A: Open character selection screen
- B: Cancel
- X: Stop Wave
- Y: Pause Menu
Square Enix has said that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be evolved ports of the mobile Crystal Defenders game and will include parts W1, W2 and W3 of the series. Aside from the obvious visual updates, though, the company hasn't shared specifics.
The second Xbox Live Arcade title from the RPG giant is Yosumin Live. This is a new version of Yosumin DS, which was released in November 2007. Building on the basic mechanics of the series, the Xbox Live Arcade version will allow for online play against worldwide players.
Both Yosumin Live and Crystal Defenders will see Xbox Live Arcade release this Spring. While Crystal Defenders has been announced for PSN as well, Yosumin has only been announced for XLA at the moment.
Square Enix's support for Xbox Live Arcade will continue beyond these two titles, it seems. Microsoft's press statement notes that the Square Enix plans to bring its popular games as well as original titles to the download service in the future.
