This update on King of Fighters XII is basically confirmation of an earlier report here at this site along with some Famitsu flying get info that appeared around the web yesterday. I've also got some new bonus item and mode info as well.
SNK Playmore has confirmed final release information for the home versions of KOFXII. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will arrive simultaneously on July 16, carrying a 7,140 yen price tag.
At least two characters are being added to the home versions. Players can now look forward to Elizabeth Blanctorche from KOFXI and Mature from KOF '96, KOF '98 and KOF 2003. There's no word yet on what type of changes the characters have undergone for their transitions to KOFXII.
As previously detailed in this blog, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature online play. The online play is worldwide, SNK Playmore has confirmed, and will allow for one on one single matches and three on three group matches.
SNK Playmore also provided specifics on the dual control options that were mentioned in the retail leak from last week. The two modes are "Simple" and "Normal." Simple mode simplifies the command process, allowing for easier special moves. Obviously, it's meant for beginner players. Normal mode is just like the arcade.
Outside of the previously detailed Gallery Mode, the home versions of KOFXII will feature, respectively, PlayStation Store Mode and Marketplace Mode. These are for obtaining add-on content, although specific content has yet to be revealed.
One last news bit for those who like getting bonus goodies with their games. SNK Playmore will be giving away two items to early buyers of KOFXII. As a single print run bonus item, buyers will get the KOF15th Anniversary Special Soundtrack, a CD consisting of music from all the past KOF games. The first print run of the game will come bundled with an additional bonus: a special PR card for the trading card game Weib Schwarz.
I don't have screens for any of this stuff yet, so check this Famitsu.com story for now.
