I have no idea where this came from, but here's an image that supposedly depicts Capcom's promo plans for its likely biggest game of the year, Monster Hunter 3:

It looks pretty legit, so I'm assuming it was used at Capcom's recent investor's briefing.

The left axis of the chart lists the type of media. The top axis lists the month, from March through October.

From top to bottom, here are Capcom's plans for each each type of media:

Commercials

Teaser commercials will begin in mid June. Just before release, some time in mid July, Capcom will begin airing a massive amount of spots. Around that time, cable television will also see commercials and special programs.

External Ads, Billboards

These will begin to appear starting in early July, focused mostly on the Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya areas.

Magazines

Teaser ads will begin to appear in game magazines and other magazines in mid May (hmm... I should probably check this week's Famitsu), running through the end of June. From mid July, real ads will appear in game magazines, general magazines, comic magazines and more.

This is presumably a print ad promoting the release date.

Pub

I'm not exactly sure what this is, but it may be in reference to general information releases about the game. The chart says that information is being periodically released from March through October. From mid July through September, Capcom will be putting large amounts of information in comics and other magazines.

Web

A teaser official site opened on 9/19/2008. Other plans include periodic updates through the game's official site and advertisements placed on Yahoo!, Mixi (a big Japanese SNS) and other sites. No andriasang.com campaign, Capcom?

Mobile

This area mentions the April 1 start of the mobile Monster Hunter Club, the operation of the official Monster Hunter mobile site, and plans for banners on mobile gaming portals like Mobage.

Events

This area mentions an appearance at the World Hobby Fair on 6/20 and 6/21, a demo event and completion ceremony in Tokyo in early July, a demo event in Osaka and Nagoya in early July, plans for a Festa '09 event in August or beyond, and an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show in late September.

5th Anniversary and Tie-up

This mentions the 5th anniversary party from March 11, the May 6 orchestral concert, various undisclosed tie-ups that are being planned, and continued release of 5th anniversary goods and books.

Retail

The first phase of retail promotions will kick off in mid May and consist of tools for promoting the release date. The second phase, in late May, will offer retailers tools for promoting pre-orders. Phase three comes in mid June, followed by phase four in early July and a fifth phase after launch. Specific plans for three last three phases are not mentioned.

This is presumably to be used by retailers to push pre-orders for the game.

The stuff at the bottom of the promotional plan chart is just information about Monster Hunter 3's release date and various packages.
