The DS's success looks like it may be having influences in unexpected areas. Have a look at Sega's new arcade game:
That's right -- it's a dual screen arcade cabinet! It's even touch-based. While it doesn't appear to have a giant stylus, it does have the advantage of having both screens equipped with a touch panel.
The placeholder name for this arcade unit is "Double Touch Screen Cabinet." It makes use of Sega's Ringwide BD arcade board, which you'll recall as being the more economical of the two "Ring" series boards Sega announced earlier this year.
Sega mentions a couple of other pieces of high end tech for the cabinet. The cabinet features a new bar code reader of some form. The screens are more than just touch screens, as they feature some form of force feedback. Apparently, the screen will shake when touched, giving a more immersive play feel.
The game shown in the above shots is not one of those somewhat naughty touch-the-little-girl games (thanks to SNK Playmore and EA, the DS has plenty of those!). Titled Lilipri Yubi Puru Hime Chen, this original game is a trading card-style arcade game along the lines of Oshare Majo. Developed with Shougakkan, the newly created franchise has already made its debut as a manga. The arcade game will hit arcades this Winter.
This is presumably one of the seven trading card-style games from Sega that was mentioned in a recent story at FujiSankei Business i.
