Looking to get into Final Fantasy XI but not sure where to start? Square Enix may have just what you're looking for in Final Fantasy XI Vana'diel Collection 2.
This retail release bundles together all of the Final Fantasy XI content released thus far. In addition to PlayOnline/Final Fantasy XI, you'll also find the Rise of Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, and Wings of the Goddess expansions. Square Enix is also throwing in the recent expansion scenarios: A Crystalline Prophecy, A Moogle Kupo d'Etat, and A Shantoto Ascension.
The collection will be released on November 12. Pricing is set at ¥6,090 for Xbox 360 and PS2 players, and open for Windows players. The expansion scenarios alone cost ¥980 each, so this does look like quite the deal for beginners.
The third expansion, A Shantoto Ascension, has yet to see its final release date announced, so we can presumably expect it on or before November 12.

It says "IXI" in the first sentence.
While it may be a start for beginners, it seems more like a funeral. After all, XIV is going to replace this entirely, if I'm not mistaken by their plans (continuing XI would be quite the surprise!).

"It says "IXI" in the first sentence."
Ha ha ha... you can probably tell XIV was on my mind too.
