Nintendo should send these guys out for crowd control!

The biggest releases of the month are hitting this week. Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver arrive on the 12th, a special Saturday release.

While just remakes of classic Pokemon games, it looks like Pokemon Co. and Nintendo can count on some stellar sales for the games. Tsutaya merchandiser Taketo Matsuo, in his latest weekly sales report at Mainichi.jp, says that the first shipment for both titles has been mostly scooped up by pre-orders. He expects to see sellouts on launch day.

For those making wagers at home, Matsuo says expects Soul Silver to perform better than Heart Gold. Apparently, this has something to do with the appearance of Lugia on the package.

As always, Matsuo also recaps this week's sales just ahead of numbers from Enterbrain and Media Create. Matsuo's sales figures are based off Tsutaya data.

For August 31 through September 6, PS3's Gundam Senki took the top spot, pushing Friend Collection into number 2 and Dragon Quest into 3. The other new PS3 release, 428, was down at 8, below Love Plus, Wii Sports Resort, Sloane & MacHale's Mysteries 2, and Monster Hunter 3.

Famitsu's flash sales chart for the week (based on Enterbrain data) mostly agrees with this, although it swaps Wii Sports with Love Plus, and Monster Hunter 3 with 428.

  • Pokemon's out already? I'm only just hitting my stride in DQIX. I wonder how the DQ and Pokemon sales will affect each other.
