The Phantasy Star Portable 2 tie-ups keep on getting more bizarre. Following a promotion with Fanta beverages, announced last week, Sega announced during the Tokyo Game Show a tie-up with Sony mascot characters Toro and Kuro. Today, the company shared further details and first screens.

Players of Phantasy Star Portable 2 who clear certain currently unspecified conditions will be able to unlock Tor and Kuro as partner characters. They'll fight alongside you in the game.

Sega made somewhat of a fuss over the promotion at TGS. The announcement was made during a live recording of a Phantasy Star Portable 2 web program on the first day of the show and featured appearances by the real Toro and Kuro. You can see images from the stage event at 4gamer.

According to the 4gamer report, producer Satoshi Sakai announced during the stage event that a demo version of Phantasy Star Portable 2 is being planned. Details on this will be revealed in magazines and through the game's official site, presumably ahead of PSP2's December 3 release.

  • That is so AWESOME! I'm a huge fan of Toro and Kuro. Hopefully they'll include them in the Western edition, as well.. If there'll ever be one, that is.

  • Those are my thoughts exactly.

I don't know why Sony doesn't even try to market them over here. I can only think of one piece of content with Kuro in it that was released here, and they of course didn't make a big deal out of it.
