Bayonetta Demo Set for October 8
Xbox 360 and PS3 owners to get different demos.

Gentlemen, start your system wars! Sega announced today a final availability date for its promised Bayonetta demo. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will have access to the download on October 8.
Sega says that the PS3 and Xbox 360 demos will offer different stages. The actual content list provided by Sega, however, suggests that the only difference is an extra stage for 360 owners.
The PS3 demo, clocking in at 1,196MB, will include a tutorial and The Angel's Metropolis stage. The Xbox 360 demo, at 770MB, will include the tutorial, The Angel's Metropolis stage, and the Falling Clock Tower prologue stage.
Both demos will provide options for camera, sound and display adjustments.
Also a bit odd in Sega's announcement is the screenshots it shared. Each system was given three screenshots. However, two of the shots appear to be the same across both systems. I've included all screens here in case you're interested in scrutinizing them:
In a past interview, producer Yusuke Hashimoto said of the upcoming demo, "It will be more than just a demo that's pulled from the middle of the game. We'd like to make it so that those who've already bought the game will make new discoveries if they play the demo."
It's unclear at this point how this demo will do just that, but we should find out next week!
Bayonetta's final retail release is set for October 29.

The first screenshot for each system is a not-so-subtle reminder as to which console is the lead platform. :P

I compared the middle two, and they're exactly the same. I like that they refer to the demos as "different," where the 360 version is clearly superior along with lower space! What a joke.

I'm guessing the only reason the PS3 demo doesn't have the extra stage the 360 version has is so it wouldn't be even bigger than it already it is. I can see why due to those bandwidth fees developers have to pay for content downloaded on the PSN, but it still seems like another way how they're just indirectly advertising the PS3 as being the lesser version.
But all that mess aside, I'm just glad that I'll be able to give the game a try months before its U.S. release date.

I've heard that the clock tower section runs poorly on the PS3.
It's a pretty intense area graphically -- one of the most intense visual displays I've ever seen in a game. But hopefully they'll have it cleaned up by release. Well... the US release, at least. Nothing is likely to change for Japan, since the game was probably finalized a while back in order to make its October 29 release.

Didn't see your comment, GohanGVO.
Either they accidentally picked a hideous section of the game for the PS3 screen, or the PS3 version really does look bad.
There's a demo tour this weekend in Shinjuku. If I have some time I'll go take a look.

Hope they don't IP block the demo.

I'm unfamiliar. Has IP blocking ever happened for a demo?

If the ps3 version is suffering like that wouldnt it be better to delay and work on those problems before releasing it. The trailers look awesome it would be ashame for the game to fail.

360 demos have been blocked. I believe I can't download the Operation Darkness demo. At least I couldn't back when it first came out. A few of the Xbox Originals and Games On Demand are blocked as well. It usually goes along region codes on the original discs, which is hilarious since I'm using a NTSC-J 360. I don't know if there's precedent for this on PSN.

Just checked. Operation Darkness is still blocked. Also, Love Football demo is region locked. One can download it just fine on a NTSC-U/C box, but the demo will not launch.

"If the ps3 version is suffering like that wouldnt it be better to delay and work on those problems before releasing it."
I think they'll fix any issues before the US version, but in Japan where the 360 isn't that big in the first place it probably won't matter too much.
Of course, if the PS3 version really is bad, negative initial press from the Japanese version could do major damage even outside of Japan.
