Is Platinum Games distancing itself from PS3 Bayonetta?
Joining the curious message that pops up before the PS3 demo is a new addition to Famitsu's game data boxes.

Have you had a chance yet to download the Bayonetta demo? If you're into flashy, high speed action, you'll probably agree that the game, regardless of the system, is at the top of the genre.
But developer Platinum Games appears to be shy about one area of the game.
As previously reported, the PS3 version of the demo opens with the following:
That's not in the 360 demo. And for good reason. When reports of the graphical issues with the PS3 version of the game surfaced last month, Platinum Games made it clear that it developed the 360 version and handed off the data to Sega to port the game to the PS3.
Still, it's a bit surprising to see such a straight forward statement. This is also a bit surprising:
That's the little info box that accompanies previews in Famitsu. The text at the bottom lists Bayonetta's director as Hideki Kamiya, producer as Yousuke Hashimoto, and developer as Platinum Games. Below that, "PS3 Port Developer: Sega."
Looks like Platinum Games is trying hard to distance itself from the PS3 version!
Personally, I find that while the visual difference between the two demo versions is obvious, the PS3 version should still manage to sell any action fan on the final product. But these curious statements leave me concerned that the PS3 version will have some further ickiness that's not apparent in the demo.

More reason for PS3 owners in the US to just wait for God of War 3.

Bayonetta is incredible... I played the demo over and over. Hopefully Platinum will patch the game and the when the U.S. version is released the issues will be worked out. Fallout 3 had many issues when it was released and it sold just fine. Personally I never thought Bayonetta would be a huge hit in the west don't get me wrong I still think it will do good.

I appreciate this newfound transparency, and hope it catches on with other developers. I would especially like a full disclosure of contract work. Seeing a game with a Capcom logo on the box, for example, while it was actually developed entirely outside the company is disingenuous of the publisher, and a disservice to the fans. And it lets the fanboys know who to properly roast. Get your lead vests out Sega.

Seems like Kamiya just likes the 360 more, maybe? Kind of stupid that this happened, actually–it's supposed to be a lot easier to port from PS3 to 360, so both would've been closer that way.
Regardless, in no way will this prevent me from buying the PS3 version.

While one gets better results porting from PS3 to 360, it's still more time consuming (read: expensive), therefore "harder" to write the original PS3 code. Small devs simply can't afford to make PS3 games sometimes.

This is just a guess, but I imagine Platinum might have taken some Capcom programming talent with them -- possibly people who had Xbox 360 experience through early MT Framework work.

Maybe, maybe not, but does experience equal quicker development time? Platinum could have poached the MT Framework project lead, and I still feel Bayonetta would have been a 360 based game. He could have been the guy that suggested it to the top brass. I don't imagine the issue is confused programmers sitting around a PS3 devkit scratching their heads.
