There's a Final Fantasy game taking up prime advertising space in central Tokyo right now. Surprisingly, it's not Final Fantasy XIII!

Exit Shibuya Station, and you'll likely see this:

That's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers being pushed on the side of the famous Q Front building (the one housing the Tsutaya and Starbucks).

Layle is on the other side of the building too.

Looks like Square Enix is giving its Nintendo-only offshoot of the Final Fantasy series somewhat of a push.

Personally, I like seeing Shibuya (my current home town) filled with game-related signs. Turn to the left of this building, and you'll see this:

Bayonetta will be on 109 for just a few more days. Hopefully another game publisher managed to snatch up the ad spot!

  • The fact that The Crystal Bearers is getting a huge advertising push indicates that Square-Enix wants this game to be success. I would not be surprised if this game received a high score from Famitsu, as that magazine is known to rate games higher based on hype and publisher influence. Just look at Bayonetta.

  • From what I played of it at TGS, it's totally deserving of the hype though.

  • I wish my country had ads to cool games like that, But no. We get obvious stuff - Resident Evil, GTA, Gears of War and Halo ads. Speaking of Australia here

  • I welcome any and all video game advertising in public spaces, even the lowest common denominator stuff. I remember the first time I saw GTA 3 on the side of a bus. Had to do a double-take.

  • They had GTA ad trucks here a while back:

The Metal Gear Solid 4 ones were cuter.

The LittleBigPlanet ones were the cutest of all:

  • Maybe they can make a Dekotora game where we have to drive ad trucks around popular neighborhoods to raise awareness for the sponsor, while shouting obscenities. Do it Jaleco, oh wait... do it Spike... on second though, DON'T do it Spike. I miss Human.
