Shiren 4: Meet the Banana Prince

Shiren the Wanderer 3 Portable has been in the news of late, and I know someone who's not particularly happy about that.

This is Banana Prince, an all new character for Shiren the Wanderer 4, a new DS entry in the series that Chunsoft and Spike announced months before the Shiren 3 port was announced for PSP.

Main characters Shiren and Koppa encounter the Banana Prince on Kahitan Island at the outset of their quest. For a reason that has yet to be explain, the Prince follows the two.

There seems to be a banana theme for Shiren 4. Past games have let players eat "onigiri" rice balls to recover their energy. With part 4, you'll fill your empty stomach with bananas.

Screenshots shared today by Chunsoft also offer a look at the game's new "Skill" system, which appears to give Shiren access to a variety of skills for use when navigating the game's dungeons. Also new for Shiren the Wanderer 4 are special dungeon doors which will sometimes lock Shiren in with enemies, but may also block enemies and allow him to flee.
