Dead or Alive Paradise was never meant to be seen in still shots. Which is why it's great that Tecmo made available a trailer today.
Stream it here:
The trailer refers to this DOA Xtreme 2 followup as a "Palm Sized Paradise." In addition to confirming that the game takes place on New Zack Island, it offers glimpses at such gameplay areas as beach volleyball, pool games and casino. And, of course, lots and lots of girl shots, including newcomer Rio.
At the end, we get a look at the contents of the two limited editions.
There are a lot of "secrets" in the base LE. It's named "Secret Paradise Box" and includes three items:
- DOA Secret Picture Book
- Secretly Recorded Voice and Soundtrack CD
- Box with Kasumi Image
The pricier LE includes everything from the base LE, but adds in a 195mm tall Kasumi figure. According to the video, you'll be able to change the hair style and swimwear of the figure. Be sure and cover your eyes when swapping out the swimwear!
At the very end of the video, we're given a glimpse at the game's pre-order bonus, an original poster featuring Kasumi.
This poster is called an "Ofuro Poster," or "Bath Poster." The text at the bottom says that through the poster, you'll be able to take a bath with the girls. Tecmo was good enough to include ducky sounds in the trailer.
If you don't mind still pics, turn to Famitsu.com for a look at all the swimsuits that were shown in this week's print issue.
Most of the details on what's shown in the screens was shared here earlier in the week. Towards the bottom of the article, you can see the game's photography system and customized music options.
When taking pics of the girls, you adjust camera angle, zoom and framing with square and the D-pad, move the camera around with the analogue pad, and snap with the R trigger. You can press circle to toggle the finder view on and off.
To set your music, you go to the Radio Station, one of the vacation spots on the island. You can select from pre-recorded music, including Rio character song Goddess of Victory as performed by voice actress Marina Inoue. You can also select mp3 files off your Memory Stick.

3D Rio doesn't quite have the same charm of 2D Rio.
