PlayStation 3 Bayonetta players have been asking Sega to fix the game's load times. Sega will at last be responding.

The company announced today that it will be releasing an online update/patch for the PS3 version tomorrow (January 28). This update will cut the game's load times.

The update will take place automatically when you power up the game. Once the update is done, you'll find a new "Install" option on the main menu. You can select this to install game data to the hard disk and reduce load times.

The update adds an Install option to the main menu.

Sega said that it is implementing this update in response to player requests.

  • Weren't there a lot more problems with the PS3 version than just load times, though? Hopefully this is just one in a series of patches that they have planned, though it's a bit late no matter what since most places already gave the game lower scores based on the unpatched version. I doubt most places are going to go back and officially change their reviews regardless of how much Sega fixes the game.

  • Well, load times were the biggest issues for reviewers. Regarding other problems (screentearing and slowing down), they're not really noticeable. Screentearing only appears when you run around outside of battle and the slowdown was in only ONE verse -- with the giant vanishing platforms before the boss in Chapter 15.

For me, this is awesome news! I hated waiting for the equip menu. Didn't really have a problem with stage load times, but the more they shorten 'em, the better. Thanks for finally serving the fans, SEGA!
