Famitsu.com reports today that domestic shipments of the Wii console have topped the 10 million mark. As usual, the site sourced data from parent company Enterbrain.

The figure coves the 3 years and 3 months from Wii's December 2, 2006 release through Febuary 28, the end of Enterbrain's latest sales tracking period. Total sales for the system stand at 10,009,736 units.

Previously, Enterbrain reported a nine million figure for the Wii back in December. Prior to that, the system reached 8 million in April.

While the Wii was the fastest console to reach the five million mark, the PS2 beat it to ten million, having taken just 2 years and 7 months.

DS has both beat, though, with just 1 year and 8 months to the figure.

  • I wonder what is the total PS2 numbers in Japan? 20-22 million? The high sales in Japan shows that like North America and Europe, the Wii has worldwide appeal, unlike the Xbox 360 which is struggling only in Japan.
