It looks like Studio Ghibli's animation will benefit from a high end platform.

Welcome to this week's Flying Get, where I recap all the info that leaks out of magazines in advance of their street dates.

As always, the information here usually originates on message boards and shady websites. I usually base the below summaries on the summaries at Game Jouhou. Summaries of summaries, for twice the inaccuracy!

In general, none of the information has been verified, so I'd suggest waiting until you read about it elsewhere on this site before telling mom.

Check back throughout the day for updates!

[ Update 23:48 -- Updates have stopped (of their own accord!). Check the main channel for more on Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts, and 3rd Birthday, but not more on that Xbox 360 porn game. I won't be writing about that ever again because gal games make public service ads appear on my site. ]

Xbox 360 Porn Game

Xbox 360 is getting another porn game. 5pb. is readying "Sharin no Kuni Himawari no Shoujo" for Xbox 360 release on October 28.

The Xbox 360 version will presumably be cleaned up for general audiences, but the original PC version, released in 2005 was definitely not for kids. Here's the official site. Do not click this link at work! (Or at Peet's... sorry old lady sitting behind me!)

Here's the PC version's opening movie. I very nervously verified that it's clean.

Hey, did you know that "Sharin no Kuni Himawari no Shoujo" was rated number one game that made people cry? It beat out Clannad, Cross Channel, and Air.

I don't know who made the list, but you can see it at Hachimaki.

Your Famitsu Scores

I know, I know... who cares about Famitsu review scores anyway, right? You know who? You! That's who!

Even though you say you don't care, it's pretty clear that you do, so here are some scores.

  • Inazuma Eleven 3 (Level-5, DS): 9, 8, 8, 9
  • BlazBlue Continuum Shift (Arc System Works, PS3/X360): 9, 8, 9, 8
  • Digimon Story Lost Evolution (Namco Bandai, DS): 8, 8, 7, 7
  • Taiko Drum Master DS Dororon! (Namco Bandai, DS): 9, 8, 8, 8

There are other games reviewed this week, but I would have had to look their names up.

A Square Enix demo disc

Square Enix will be releasing a PlayStation 3 demo disc! Hooray!

It looks like it's going to contain demos of a bunch of western games like Kane & Lynch, Just Cause 2 and Batman. Boo!

But it will also have the latest game PVs and some secret elements. Hooray again!

More Versus, Agito, and 3rd Birthday Updates

This update comes from FF Reunion. The Square Enix fan site reports the following bits, presumably based off various flying get sources from Famitsu and Dengeki, both of which seem to have some major Square Enix media this week:

  • The Versus screenshots show a fight with a weaponized Behemoth in a city.
  • Square Enix will be showing an unannounced title at TGS. Given the context, I think this means a Nomura game.
  • Nomura says that the Versus visual quality will improve even beyond what's shown in the new screenshots.
  • Agito's development is progressing well. You'll be able to move about on the world map via Chocobo and air ship.
  • The 3rd Birthday will be of such quality that you won't think it's a PSP game. This applies to the graphics and volume.
  • Nomura apparently says The 3rd Birthday will be the ultimate PSP title... until Agito comes out.

A few extra Versus XIII Details

Game Jouhou has updated with a few additional Versus XIII details from either Famitsu or Dengeki.

Apparently, the included screens show a massive wilderness scene. Also included is a battle scene that's set in a city modeled after Shinjuku, and a scene showing a gasoline stand.

Says Nomura about the game's world, "If you try to go all the way to the end, it's truly far."

Also from the Nomura interview:

  • The game's cloud effects use real physics calculations
  • The world is an open field, and you can go everywhere except for the mountains
  • The battles are seamless
  • The game's encounter system is both random and symbol-based (meaning you can see enemies in advance). Hmm... what could this mean?
  • The game's world is mostly seamless, although there are some load points when you switch between the massive areas.
  • You can destroy objects that you find on the road.
  • The quality of the combat scenes is so high that people will not be able to believe it when they first see it.
  • The staff is excited about making the game.

Nomura also confirms that the screens in the magazine are all realtime, captured off the PlayStation 3. Of course, this won't mean much until we can actually see the screens...

New Final Fantasy Versus XIII Info Coming at TGS

I believe there were some reports during E3 of The Last Guardian making an appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Well it won't be carrying the PS3 all by itself! Famitsu has an article on Final Fantasy Versus XIII this week, complete with new screenshots (finally!) and a Tetsuya Nomura interview! It looks like Nomura confirms some announcements for the game at TGS!

So many exclamation points!!!

Sick of seeing this damn screenshot over and over again? Famitsu.com will hopefully post Famitsu's Versus XIII screens later this week.

Ni no Kuni's Console Revealed

Remember all that talk of a console version of Ni no Kuni? We now know the platform thanks to Famitsu. The magazine confirms that the game will be coming to PS3.

Leaked images from the magazine show what looks like high quality cell shaded visuals to complement the Studio Ghibli animation. "You'll be able to adventure through a world with the feel of a Studio Ghibli produced animation as is," writes the magazine.

The magazine lists the PS3 version as release date TBA.

Level-5 will be holding its long promised press conference for Ni no Kuni later this week, so additional details will hopefully be shared then.

  • It is interesting to see a DS version and a PS3 version of the same IP. I wonder whether the PS3 will be the only console version of Ni no Kuni or whether Level-5 will will announce the game for the Wii or Xbox 360.

  • I'm pretty surprised too. I thought Wii was a sure thing for Ni no Kuni's console.

  • I'm still not that interested in Ni no Kuni, but it will probably look gorgeous on PS3. If I do end up being interested in it that would definitely be the version I play.

  • The PS3 is the only logical solution for Ni no Kuni, seeing as they would want to create a quality game with high quality animation, as expected of Ghibli. Level-5 has always had quite a good relationship with Sony, so no surprise, really.

  • I'm happy it's on the PS3, as I want it to look like an animated movie, but I think Level-5 could make a sweet-looking Wii game, especially given how good they made the DS version look.

  • I am very happy that Level 5 stills believe in Sony PS3 and hopefully we get the localized version in 1 year at least.

  • I'm so excited for Versus XIII! I hope the scans are out (leaked? ^_^) soon.
