Welcome to the this week's issue of Weekly Flying Get, where every week we delivery the early leaks from magazines like Famitsu, Dengeki and Gemaga.
As always, a warning. The information you find here is in most cases based off the summaries at game information site Game Jouhou, which bases its summaries off message board posts. In general, we haven't verified any of it, so you should probably wait until you read it elsewhere on this site before bringing it up in conversation, even if you find yourself with a desperate conversation lull during your shower with the twins.
Last week's installment saw some big reveals, including new PS3 Yakuza game, Lord of Arcana from Square Enix, and White Knight Chronicles on PSP. What surprises await this week? Check back throughout the day for updates!
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Info
... is coming in next week's issue. Sooooooooorry!
Famitsu promises new info on MHP3rd and other unspecified upcoming titles.
Check out the old MHP3rd PV to hold you over.
Big Headed Baseball Hits a Home Run on PS3
Konami is at long last bringing big headed baseball to the HD generation through Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2010. The result? How about two 10s and two 9s in Famitsu. The PS3 version outscored the PSP version, which managed two 9s and two 8s.
Famitsu also gave high marks to the Xbox 360 version of Monster Hunter Frontier Online: a 9, 9, 10 and 8.
Here are the scores:
- Fire Emblem (DS): 9, 8, 9, 8
- Odoru Daisousasen The Game (DS): 9, 7, 7, 8
- Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2010 (PS3): 10, 9, 9, 10
- Last Ranker (PSP): 9, 8, 8, 8
- Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2010 (PSP): 9, 9, 8, 8
- Hello Kitty Block Crush 123!!! (PSP): 6, 4, 6, 6 (DAMN YOU FAMITSUUUUU!)
- Momotaro Dentetsu Tag Match (PSP): 8, 7, 8, 8
- Naruto Shippuuden Kizuna Drive (PSP): 7, 5, 6, 7
- Monster Hunter Frontier Online (X360): 9, 9, 10, 8
Agarest Senki 2 Has Naughty Mini Games
In PS3's Agarest Senki 2, you can play a mini game called "massage," where you rub oil on the heroine's body and slowly massage her. The massage will apparently make someone's parameters rise -- I'm not sure whose.
There's also a "bathhouse" mini game.
Also revealed this week: when you change generations, your town will grow, possibly with new facilities. The magazine -- I'm going to guess Dengeki -- also has a look at the second generation main character and heroines.
PS3 Porn Game Has a New Heroine
Looks like either Famitsu or Dengeki (probably Dengeki, since they tend to cover this type of game more) got the first word on Fortune Arterial, the PS3 version of an adult Windows visual novel from adult brand August.
The PS3 version is being developed with the support of Aria and will be published by Kadokawa Shoten.
It looks like the PS3 version has a new heroine.
More on Fortune Arterial here.
Kojima Discusses Next Project
There's an interview in this week's Famitsu with Metal Gear series mastermind Hideo Kojima. And not just any interview -- a "special" interview.
Kojima speaks a bit about his next project, mentioning the following:
- The design doc is almost finalized
- The platform will be a console
- This is the "Taboo" he Tweeted about in the past
- He hopes to realize stuff he couldn't do in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
- Asked for a release period, he responded something to the effect of "Once I've started moving, I'm quick."
- ZOE's development is being pushed back.
Some of this was mentioned in that bizarre bathroom live stream from Paris during E3.
He also seems to say something about being able to choose if his next project is original or Metal Gear Solid 5. I'm not sure if this means the game he's working on can still end up being Metal Gear Solid 5, or if he's saying that at one point in the past he had the choice of making MGS5 or making an original project, and he ended up making whatever it is he's making.
More details from the interview will hopefully surface throughout the day.
First Few God Eater Burst Details
Just a few preliminary details on God Eater Burst, courtesy of Game Jouhou:
- Rather than a sequel, it's like a super evolved version of the first game.
- Has more weapons
- Has new a new story, new characters and new Aragami monsters
- Gameplay has been balanced
- Visuals have been brushed up
Without specifics, it's a bit tough to determine if this is the God Eater + that leaked out last month, although at a high level, it does sound like it!
Vanquish Dated
It looks like Famitsu has a final release date for the next Shinji Mikami game that's going to blow you away regardless of what all the stupid, stupid people said about it following E3. Vanquish arrives on October 21. That's all for now!
New God Eater Confirmed
Looks like Famitsu has the first word this week on God Eater Burst. What is God Eater Burst? The magazine's table of contents lists it for PSP. Some sources say it's due for Fall 2010 release.
Is this the same game as God Eater Plus, images of which leaked out last month? We'll find out later today!
The timing for this Famitsu reveal coincides with the upcoming God Eater Fes tournament, which is scheduled for the 11th. Namco Bandai said it would share new details for the God Eater series there.
Lord of Arcana Has Encounter Battles
Square Enix left out a major point about Lord of Arcana when announcing the game last week in Famitsu. Dengeki reveals this week that the game has an RPG-like symbol encounter system -- that is, you run into enemies on the fields of play in order to enter combat. Once you've engaged an enemy in combat, you move into a battle field that's separated from the rest of the stage by a red barrier. You can flee battle by running out of this area. During multiplayer, other players can enter the area to join in on the fight.
I'd suggest taking a look at the original promotional video from last week now that you know about this gameplay system. You can clearly see the red line marking out the battle field. The video is just one long fight, so we unfortunately can't see an encounter taking place. Perhaps we'll get an updated video this week.
Dengeki also reveals an October 14 release date for the game. Now let's see if Capcom plays dirty and releases Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on the same day.
