Ad Watch Final Fantasy XIII Supplemental
Now with 40 Ds of photographic power!
Posted Nov 20, 2008 at 22:21
Here's the missing White Knight Story ad from earlier:
Right next to it is another missing ad from earlier. Both of these ads originally had little kids standing in front of them, and I really felt that it would be wrong for me to take pictures of little kids while a foreigner in a strange land.
Here are all the other ads from earlier. These versions (along with the two shots above) were taken with a Nikon D40 digital SLR -- my camera of choice because I don't have enough money for one of those beautiful full frame jobs. The original shots were taken with a crappy -- although extremely cute -- turquoise CyberShot.
Here are some shots of the Final Fantasy XIII ad from a couple of different angles, allowing you to totally grasp what it's like to see the ad once from one location, then again from another location.
And here's a close-up of the Final Fantasy XIII ad so you can confirm that Tetsuya Nomura is the character designer.
I'm surprised Sony didn't mention the upcoming demo.
There's definitely a difference in quality between these and the CyberShot pics, although I'm not sure how much of that difference is noticeable unless you view the pictures in full size... which you currently can't do (you can enlarge them a bit by clicking on them, though).
Since I had my D40 with me anyway, here are a few more random pics.
First, higher quality versions of some of those Grand Theft Auto 4 ads from a few weeks ago.
There are actually a bunch more of these GTAIV billboards around Shibuya. I keep spotting new ones too.
In the first set above, you can see Kawori Manabe in a billboard to the lower right. She's the anti-pimple creme girl. That's almost as bad as being the anti STD girl (who has a HUGE banner in Center-gai next to the Softbank shop).
Pimples or not, I love Kaori Manabe... but not as much as I love Yui! Yui's face is all over Shibuya now in promotion of her upcoming CD which has one of those unfortunate English names that only non-English speakers would ever use: My Short Stories.
Here's a pic of her on 109.
And a bit closer:
And to end on a game note, since I don't want people to think that this blog is about hot Japanese girls, here's a somewhat ghetto Chrono Trigger display:
