There was a bit of confusion yesterday from box art released for Phantasy Star Portable's budget version. The package appeared to say that Phantasy Star Portable 2 could inherit the save data from just the budget version of the game.

So are owners of the full price Phantasy Star Portable out of luck? Today, Sega cleared things up. In its own announcement of the budget version today, Sega said that anyone with Phantasy Star Portable save data will be able to import the data into Phantasy Star Portable 2.

Importing data will allow you to carry over your race, gender, name, avatar color, pupil/lip/skin color blends, body form, partner mercenary name and form, and clothing/parts from your equipment. You won't be able to input your character level, your accessories, your Meseta money, your voice type or voice pitch, your Photon Arts, other item data, or other physical appearance data. Additionally, your race and gender will not be changeable.

Those who take advantage of the import feature will get a big bonus with the ability to use the "Igzam" weapon from the start.

The two disc case, and the bonus weapon.

Sega also detailed the bonus PSU Chronicle UMD video disc that will be included with the budget version. This disc will include a total of 60 minutes video footage. The main part of the video recaps the Phantasy Star Universe series' story with newly recorded narration. Also on the disc is the opening movie for Phantasy Star Portable 2.
