Alpha Unit is set to go down in history as the first publisher to release a DSi-exclusive game to retail. Today, the company provided final release details on that game, Monster Finder.

Monster Finder will be released on November 19, carrying the standard DS price point of ¥5,040. As a bonus, Alpha Unit will be including an original DSi pouch with the initial lot.

Wondering what the packaging looks like for a DSi exclusive title? Here's our first look at Monster Finder's box:

The box makes it pretty clear that this is a DSi-only product. In addition to the two gray boxes that say "DSi Exclusive," the red text at the bottom clearly states that it cannot be used on DS or DS Lite.

Monster Finder is a DSi-exclusive game presumably because it makes heavy use of the DSi's built in camera. Pictures that players take of real life objects are converted into in-game monsters for use in battle. The game includes 150 monster designs.

  • I dunno. I don't think it's obvious enough, personally.
Though I did read somewhere that they are changing the boxes to white - is that true?

  • Not sure. Where did you read that?

I'm personally surprised that Nintendo is letting some tiny third party release the first DSi-only game.
