You have to hand it to Hideo Kojima. He certainly listens to his fans.

In the latest post at the Kojima Productions Official Web Blog, dated September 30, the Metal Gear series mastermind revealed that Kojima Productions is currently making changes to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker's controls. The changes are being made at a "rapid pace," according to the post.

As a basis for the change, Kojima Productions is using "impressions from the press, opinions from management, direct opinions from users, surveys from users in the demo area, opinions from the web, opinions from message boards." This is all in reference to the Tokyo Game Show demo.

That demo offered players selectable Shooting Type and Action Type controls. These will see some fixes. Additionally, the team is considering offering a third control scheme.

"PW will be 'The Action Game on the PSP,' so we'd like to be particular about the control method and the feel of control until the end," writes Kojima.

  • I thought the controls were fine in the demo, so hopefully they don't fix something that wasn't broken.

  • I found them too complex... but I only played briefly, so maybe it's something I could get used to.

  • Well one reason why I liked them was because they were pretty similar to the ones used in the Syphon Filter PSP games, which are some of my favorite games on the system. Thus, it was kinda like I was already familiar with the controls for Peace Walker before I even played it.
