Capcom announced an iPhone/iPod Touch version of Ghouls & Ghosts back at the Tokyo Game Show. Today, the game finally saw release under the Japanese name of Makaimura Kishi Retsuden (Makaimura is the Japanese name for the series).

Kishi Retsuden is an arranged version of a cell phone Ghouls & Ghosts game. Players choose to take control of series' hero Arthur and newcomer Lancelot in classic side scrolling gameplay.

The "arrangements" for the iPhone include polished visuals. Additionally, Capcom has implemented a "Customize Buying" system, which lets you buy items from an in-game shop. You'll find infinite lives and a set of powerup items for ¥115 (that's real money, not game currency).

Pricing for Makaimura Kishi Retsuden is set at ¥600. However, Capcom has lowered the price to ¥350 through November 23 to commemorate the appearance of the series on iPhone.

  • Sneaky, sneaky Capcom. Charge for lives in hardest game ever.

  • Just think how much harder it will be without buttons...
